Communism in North Korea

Andrew: Communism in N. Korea will only work when countries like the United States will stop intervening with the affairs of N. Korea. The right to self-determination has not been truly materialized. The sanctions to trade with others countries imposed on N.korea make it difficult for communism to work.

Michael: Western countries have the right to impose sanctions against N. Korea. It is their right not to trade or prevent others from trading with N. Korea.

Any fallacy here or opinion?

Appeal to Possibility as well as opinion.

The sanctions to trade with others countries imposed on N.korea make it difficult for communism to work.

Which is it? The first statement states intervention makes it impossible for communism to work (indicated by the word "only") where this one says intervention just makes it more difficult? No fallacy, just conflicting claims.

Western countries have the right to impose sanctions against N. Korea. It is their right not to trade or prevent others from trading with N. Korea.

Strawman Fallacy and possible Red Herring . The argument made has nothing to do with the rights of western countries; it has to do with the success of communism.

Questionable cause maybe?

Sanctions do not and have never prevented the communist utopia envisioned by marx which called for the overthrow of the capitalists by the proletariat who would then establish a temporary dictatorship until all enemies were eliminated (ie all capitalists) and then there would be utopia and the dictatorship would die off on its own as it would no longer be necessary. Sanctions have no effect on the attempt to re-arrange society this way.

What ends up happening is a dictatorship of the bureaucrats, Orwells animal farm satirized this nicely.
