How can I respond to someone who says analogy is bad when it's not

Original Question

My analogy to there ignorant argument was


They said a pencil was the same as wood because pencils come from wood


And I said that's like saying, bread is the same as wheat because bread comes from wheat


They just say it's bad analogy and there's other ways to explain it, when the analogy and how it's said has nothing to do with the argument as long as the analogy is right
