begging the question. Everyone isn't always worried about the Russians. We can say this is hyperbole and avoid the fallacy, but this is still a problem in rational argumentation.
I am not sure how to interpret this. The possibilities I see are 1) The Russians have cooperated with us in the past, so they can't not cooperate with us in the present or future. 2) The Russians cooperate with us on space endeavors, so they must cooperate with us on all other things. 3) ? As for fallacies, perhaps fallacy of composition . It is being inferred that Russia as a whole is friendly to America because a part of Russia (the space program) is. Depending on what precisely is meant by the response, there are other problems with the reasoning including failure to allow for change or failure to differentiate among domains. |
