I washed my car this morning.  I rained this afternoon.  It rained this afternoon because I washed my car this morning.

I'm not sure what it's known as here but Post hoc ergo propter hoc says that "Since event Y followed event X, event Y must have been caused by event X." The post hoc fallacy is a bit less of a mouthful.
