Am I just being a curmudgeon?

I have to admit I cringe when I read so many of the "Is there a fallacy here?" posts here. It seems to me that most of these posters do not seem to know that a logical fallacy question arises in the context of a proposed "logical" argument . (And, frankly, some of the posts are barely coherent.} Maybe if the question page was a template in the format of a syllogism: P1, P2, ... Pn, Therefore... Okay, now fill in the blanks, damn it!

I know, I know, this is exactly why some of my students used to call me "Dr. Death!"

Is there a fallacy here?

I certainly don't mind the "is there a fallacy here" posts. This is part of what this forum is about; helping people understand the difference between a logical fallacy and not a logical fallacy. Having said that, I do mind the incoherent posts. I try to be understanding because 1) sometimes the incoherence involved non-English-speaking posters and 2) sometimes people quote others who are incoherent (like YouTube comments, etc.).

My advice, just ignore the posts that rub you the wrong way for whatever reason. If you notice, I don't respond to every post. Sometimes, it is because I am busy and other members, such as yourself, do a fine job providing responses. Other times, I just can't make sense of the post—they are a string of words in no apparent order, unworthy of my academic brilliance :)
