This might be considered an oversimplification with a little ambiguity mixed in.
My teacher is claiming that it is a false dichotomy and I don't think that it is true because the conclusion isn't suggesting one option right? Am I missing something? I would not consider this a false dichotomy because the way it is worded, it does not limit the choices to two opposites. For example, a false dichotomy would be, "that guy is either good or he is evil." Your example is more along the lines of "If you want to look great buy that suit, if you want to smell great, buy the cologne." |
