Original Question

Here is an argument I saw on FB.

"Congress doesn't have to take the covid vaccine. That's pretty much all I need to know."

P1: Vaccine mandates don't apply to congress.

P2: Therefore, we cannot trust the vaccine and so we should not take the vaccine either. (implying its not safe)

Comments on Question

while it is hypocritical there is logic fallacies here that I can see.

Jim is correct in that it is a simple non sequitur . I don't know enough about how laws work, but if congress made the laws to mandate vaccines but not mandated within their own organization (congress), then this would seem hypocritical to some extent. But this would not be a reason not to take the vaccine (see ad hominem (tu quoque) ).

P2 does not logically follow from P1.

If there is a reason for not taking the vaccine, such as mistrust of it, then than has nothing whatsoever to do with P1.

So, P2 is a non-sequitur.

Now my opinion on the vaccine in general, based on the above : anti-vaxxers have illogical reasons for being against vaccination.
