"Government is their God"

Original Question

I saw this post on social media today and thought it would be interesting to see some logical analysis done on it.

New York Governor Cuomo says that "The numbers are down, because we brought the numbers down, God did not do that, faith did not do that, destiny did not do that  ...." in New York he continues and says, "WE did that, a lot of pain and suffering did that and if you don't continue to do that you're gong to see that number go up...."

Person 1 commenting on the Governors comments: "A few weeks ago I said,” Don’t be surprised when people who don’t believe in God , start acting like politicians and government is God. Because many do. Government is their God.” Watch New York City. This man, that most democrats want to be the democrat nominee INSTEAD of sleepy joe, is mocking God and all religions of faith."

One of the ways to control people is to take away their dignity and sense of self worth. Christianity seems to focus on telling people how worthless and bad they are, and how "god" is great and deserves the credit for everything good which happens.

I've always been perplexed and perturbed w atching American media when people sacrifice so much, or excel in some way, and all the credit goes to "god". All those countless hours of training and self control are apparently nothing to do with success.

So I guess when you're brought up being brow beaten into this mindset that you're going to think that credit which rightfully belongs to "god" is being falsely given to others and "god's glory" is being diminished by deceitful people. Would this be an example of cognitive dissonance?

I don't think they can conceive of not having a god, so they think that other people have to replace a god with a god substitute.

Giving credit where it is actually due isn't mocking "god", it's just giving credit where it's due. If people didn't give it where it isn't due to begin with he wouldn't have needed to phrase it in that way.
