Original Question
How does the music you listen to help you become a better Christian? If you're going to be friends with gay people why not be friends with serial killers, rapists, and liars too? I need help when debating with close minded people asking questions like these.

How does the music you listen to help you become a better Christian?

Simple answer: Who says it does?
More abrasive answer: If being a "better Christian" means being a bigger ass*ole when it comes to how we treat gays, then I just focus on being a better human being instead, thank you.

If you're going to be friends with gay people why not be friends with serial killers, rapists, and liars too?

The statement is so ridiculous that it really does not deserve a rational response. Sometimes, using twisted logic makes this point:

"So have you ever told a lie? Yes? Then you must be gay." This makes as much sense as suggesting that someone must be friends with a serial killer since they are friends with a gay person.
