Original Question

Person 1: Shares data in a graph on all countries growth in COVID-19 cases. The only 2 countries on the graph that have curbed their growth is China and South Korea.

Person 2: You are so brainwashed. The fact that you are comparing those countries to the USA shows what news you watch.

Person 1: How else are we suppose to know how we are doing if not to compare all other counties against each other?

Person 2: You cant compare us because everything is different, our diversity is what makes us different. That’s why you can’t compare us.

Looks like just a bunch of assertions and opinions. The idea of "comparing" is ambiguous. Compare what? Of course we can compare... as long as we acknowledge the similarities and differences. This is why we compare.

Ironically, he is doing exactly what he is saying can't be done. This is comparing.

Lying with statistics. The reporting of country-by-country COVID-19 statistics for number of cases is essentially meaningless without corresponding statistics for number of tests conducted. Example: today country A reports 10 cases and tested 100 people; country B reports 20 cases and tested 1000. Country A has lower infections detected, but a higher detection rate. If country A has twice the population of country B it could be in a much worse situation.
