Original Question

What fallacy is this... I heard a preacher saying this. He said that God was the first cause and creator of everything, but did not create sin (or evil).

Comments on Question

Ignorance? Denial? It is right there in his book:

I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things.

Isaiah 45:7

"God is the First Cause but he did not create sin.'

This is an Appeal To Faith Fallacy. Its also a contradiction as well as inconsistency. It also could be a Cherry Picking Fallacy if he is getting it from the bible, as Dr. Bo pointed out the bible also says God created evil. But to claim that any of these things are true because the bible says so would be an Appeal To Authority Fallacy

There is no logical fallacy because there is no argument. There is factual error. God is good. God is never the first cause of sin. All people sin. The sin I do comes from within me and is my responsibility. The sin you do comes from within you and is your responsibility.
